About David Jenkins Design Ltd
David Jenkins Design, an RIBA Chartered Architects Practice, was established in 1995 to provide high quality architectural design with a project management service for clients who seek design flair in specialist housing, commercial or community projects. Based in Mid Sussex, we serve country, coast and city clients and will provide personal, professional attention to your project.
About Us
As an RIBA Chartered Architects Practice we are able to tailor our service to your requirements and our friendly professional approach helps deal with the complex issues which arise during the planning, design and construction process. We work closely with other building professionals such as engineers and specialist craftsmen, builders and suppliers to provide a comprehensive and economic design package.
Being conscious of budgets we consider how value can be added to schemes by careful planning and good design. We understand our flexible approach works well for clients and references are available. Project values vary from £50K up to £1 million plus and involve significant extensions and restoration of properties including conversion of rural buildings into homes, new housing, health buildings, (such as care home and surgery work) along with adapting listed buildings into commercial offices, retail and restaurant facilities.
Services
Design
We are able to speak to you about your project from the inception and suggest an initial meeting to discuss your ideas. We can offer design advice both internally and externally in an attempt to meet your brief or exceed it. If you decide you would like us to work on your project our normal approach is to conduct a full measured survey of your property so that we can create computer generated plans & elevations which we use to provide a sketch scheme.
Planning
We act as a planning agent and consult with the Local Planning Authority on your behalf and will hopefully achieve planning permission for your project. We have a lot of experience in obtaining Listed Building and Conservation Area Consents and many of our projects are located within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). We treat each scheme individually and offer a considered approach working with Planning Officers to achieve a successful outcome.
Building Regulations
We offer a technical service to produce plans and a specification that demonstrates our design meets current regulations such as fire escapes, insulation, ventilation and drainage. We are also able to offer design solutions to conform with Part M of the Building Regulations, ensuring people with disabilities are able to access and use buildings.
Contract Management
We are able to help you select suitable local builders and obtain competitive prices through the tendering stage. If you proceed we can monitor progress of the project to get in onsite and then oversee the co-ordination of the construction through to successful completion. We are also able to act in the CDM co-ordinator role where required and can help to arrange the necessary obligations under the Party Wall Act.
