Folkes Architects believe that good quality architecture is generated by formulating a clear brief in understanding the freedom & constraints of a site in conjunction with a client’s needs. Our architecture rationalises the complex issues of building and aims to make sustainable, practical and special buildings for people to enjoy.

We are based in Steyning, West Sussex and work on projects throughout the Southern Counties.

What we do
We offer a wide range of architectural services which can be simply split into 4 categories:

• Measured Surveys
  We are able to provide you with highly accurate topographical and measured surveys of your site. Our in-house surveyor uses a Robotic Total Station, employing laser technology to produce 2D or 3D surveys.


• Design & Planning
  We provide you with a variety of design and planning services including; feasibility studies, planning and listed building advice, concept development, sketch design, 3D visualisation and interior design. We will also advise you on sustainability and designing for disability.


• Detailed Technical Design
  We offer you extremely detailed design drawings for building regulation purposes. These are then further progressed with a detailed specification for tendering and construction. The drawings will generally provide you with setting out information, drainage and electrical information. There will also be detailed construction information which will allow a builder to accurately price and construct the project.


• Contract Administration
  At Folkes Architects we provide a contract administration service using industry recognised contracts (JCT). We carry out regular site inspections and valuation of work, allowing us to issue architect's instructions. This service allows you to step back from the day-to-day running of a construction project. Together we can keep an element of control over both quality and expenditure.
