PERFORMANCE Fenestration data is the architectural description of the factors influencing the admittance of energy through a glazed window system and its effects on the building interior. It is governed by three main parts:
[T]% SOLAR TRANSMITTANCE
The amount of energy transmitted directly into the room through the glass and blind material.
[A]% SOLAR ABSORBTION
The amount of energy absorbed by the glass and blind material.
[R]% SOLAR REFLECTANCE
The amount of energy reflected outward by the glass and blind material.
To define the solar control properties of a blind material, the 'SHADING COEFFICIENT' [SC] is used. The solar heat gain with the blind material at the window divided by the solar heat gain without the blind material at the window gives the SC. The lower the SC figure, the more efficient the blind system is in reducing the heat and glare inside the building.
