At Andrews Paint Stripping we specialise in stripping doors, pine furniture, shutters, window frames, skirting, spindles, architrave, cast iron fireplaces, radiators and gates to name but a few. Our speciality is large items (up to 15 ft) due to the size of our tanks i.e. garden furniture, dressers, blanket boxes and chests of drawers.

Andrews Paint Stripping provides a full sanding, waxing and finishing service. We provide a 48-hour return on external doors and offer a collection and delivery service. Additionally, Andrews Paint Stripping buys and sells doors and fireplaces.

The Showroom
At Andrews Paint Stripping we have a large stock of doors (over 400) Victorian, 1930's, Specialist large doors/ front doors. All doors are solid stripped but unfinished.

The Workshop
At Andrews Paint Stripping Ltd, doors, furniture, fireplaces etc are stripped in a caustic solution. The residue is then removed by pressure washing. The items are left to dry slowly and naturally to avoid shrinking, then placed into a dehumidified storage area until the drying process is completed.

Next, any repairs can be undertaken (at an extra charge). Holes or damaged areas can be replaced with matching wood, and the piece is then sanded ready to receive the finish which is either Wax or Danish Oil as preferred.

Finishing guide

• 1. Waxing
  Most commonly applied to furniture that has a low to medium usage. For examples dressers and doors.


• 2. Danish Oil
  Mostly commonly applied to furniture that has a medium to high usage. For example chairs, dining tables and chest of drawers.


• 3. Repainting
  After stripping, painting on a fresh surface will give a much better finish and look to the furniture. When painting over existing paint the surface can become uneven and corners / edges clogged with paint.


• 4. Our wood finishing process:
  Original Condition, Stripped, Sanding out the wood, Cleaning down with white spirit, Application of sanding sealer if required, Waxing / oiling / varnishing the surface, Polishing the surface – for waxing only.
