We have been awarded the title Best Approved Inspector for 2 years running, and are the only Approved Inspector to have been picked by Theo Paphitis to be part of his SBS network of small businesses.
Services include:
Building Regulations in England and Wales are set by the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG). These are standards for the design and construction of buildings to ensure the safety and health of the people who use those buildings. The standards also include requirements to ensure energy efficiency and accessibility.
Traditionally, only inspectors from the local authority were authorised to undertake building control. But the Building Act 1984 opened up the market, allowing qualified companies in the private sector to fulfil this role in England and Wales. Wilkinson Construction Consultants are one of these companies, known as Approved Inspectors, and licensed by the Construction Industry Council (licence number 153).
Once appointed, we will work with you, help you ensure that your building work complies with Building Regulations throughout the process.
The procedure requires that you and the Approved Inspector jointly notify the local authority before you start work by issuing an 'Initial Notice.' Once this notice has been accepted by the local authority, the responsibility for plan checking and site inspection will be formally placed on us as your appointed Approved Inspector.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and we are sorry to learn that it was not a positive experience for you.
We appreciate that it can seem unfair to pay for our services in advance. However, as explained in our terms & conditions the fee is not for the work that is done, it is an application fee, much the same as applying for planning permission.
As discussed previously we cannot sign off a builders work if it does not comply with the regulations. In this case the builder did not follow the approved plans, and omitted key fire safety features, so we asked for work to be carried out to rectify this to protect you and your family. When this wasnt undertaken despite repeated requests we had to revert the project back to the Council to enforce those fire standards.
We are proud of our high standards and are sorry you found yourself in this situation.
