Universal Beams
Also known as: Girders, H sections, I sections, U beams, Lintels

Whatever size you require, our universal steel beams are fabricated to our exacting standards. Universal beams are used in a variety of construction purposes including residential properties and large commercial premises. They are also to be found in civil engineering projects such as railways and bridges.

Due to the increased depth in a universal beam the loading capability is higher than other forms of beam. It is important that the depth is measured correctly before ordering the beam you require. A beam is normally put into between two columns, but it can also be used as a column by itself.

Universal Columns
We offer fabricated columns to meet all requirements, whether it’s for a small building project or large-scale site construction. Known throughout the industry as I or H columns, universal steel columns are used in residential and commercial buildings. If you have a height limitation, these beams are ideal because of their small depth.

All our columns confirm to the BS 4 standard of quality and safety. They are available in a variety of sizes. We also make universal columns to order, if a standard size won’t do the job. RSJ Beams
In addition to steel beams, we offer rolled steel joists (RSJs) in the most in-demand sizes and weights. RSJs or Rolled Steel Joists, as they are known are used to hold up supporting walls. They are also known as I beams or H beams because of their shape.

They are designed for strength and load bearing and they have tapered flanges. They are available in a varied size range, typical of this type of steel beam and they are ideal for use on low storey buildings. They provide strength to girders and support to joists for ceilings and floors. We can supply you an RSJ beam from our extensive list, or you can ask us about tailor-made options if that’s what you require.

PFC (Parallel Flange Channels)

Our Parallel Flange Channels can be used in a wide range of construction services, including small residential properties and large commercial premises. We have a wide variety of sizes available, but if you don’t see what you want you can talk to us about our tailor-made options. This steel beam is sometimes referred to as a C section because of its shape.

PFCs are used for columns and lintels for doors as a support for floors and they are also used for cavity walls which require insulation. They are ideal for awkward spaces which can be found in attics or basement areas.
