About Floorspan Contracts Ltd
Floorspan Contracts Ltd is a family-run business established in 1997 by MD Nick Dighton. What began as a beam and block business has developed into an industry leader in a range of precast concrete products.
Having built a dedicated team with a range of formal qualifications, skills and practical experience, we are confident in our business model, our staff and our ability to deliver. We are proud to have grown from modest beginnings to a modern five-acre production facility. Producing concrete beam and block flooring, ‘hollowcore’ wideslab concrete planks, precast concrete stairs and EPS flooring (thermafloor).
At Floorspan, we pride ourselves on proposing: considered, well thought-out designs with a focus on quality and customer service. We are accessible enough to support a self builder or first-time developer on smaller beam and block jobs, but also equipped and experienced enough to accommodate a larger, regional contractor who may require a solution that incorporates hollowcore planks or just a more complex application of beam and block.
Beam and Block
150mm concrete beam – ‘light beam’ - A narrow-section 150mm deep concrete beam most suited for shorter spans. At only 25kg per linear metre, they are light by name and relatively light by nature. ‘Light’ beam and block flooring is ideal for domestic applications including extensions, ground floor and upper floors of new build dwellings.
150mm Concrete Beam – ‘Standard Beam’ - A slightly wider, heavier 150mm deep concrete beam which uses a 65mm sand cement screed and a medium density block. The clear span at maximum spacing in a conventional application is 4671mm. These hit the scales at 35kg per linear metre. Suited to longer spans and/or heavier loading conditions. Such as: larger houses, offices and care homes.
225mm Concrete Beam – ‘9 inch’ - ‘225 Beam’ – a heavy-duty 225mm deep option suitable for spans up to 8m in domestic situations, using up to 6 7mm strands of high tensile reinforcement wire and weighing in at 77kg per linear meter. Probably the heaviest duty 225mm ‘T’ Beams in the world of beam and block flooring. Ideal for light industrial and commercial buildings or large domestic dwelling and communal facilities.
Hollowcore Concrete Planks
In addition to our beam and block products we also manufacture a range of pre-stressed concrete flooring units known as hollowcore planks. Hollowcore planks are ideal for offices, shops, light industrial, or high quality residential properties where spans are often greater with increased loadings.
Separating flats is another key use of Hollowcore. With the increased emphasis on sound separation between dwellings. Particularly blocks of flats, as defined in Part E of the Building Regulations, our 150mm or 215mm hollowcore planks are a perfect solution to the problem.
Precast Stairs
Precast Concrete Stairs are an excellent alternative to traditional Timber Steps. Floorspan Contracts can supply and install precast reinforced concrete staircases and landings to ensure you receive a complete package for your upper floors. Floorspan concrete staircases have been designed with detail in mind and to make their installation a straight forward process.
eFloor Plus
eFloor Plus is a perfect eco-friendly solution for modern, energy-efficient homes. This product has been designed to be easy to install and environmentally friendly. In fact, it is a BBA certified product that exceed all relevant building regulations. Insulated concrete flooring helps ease pressures on national home builders, such as the demand to build more homes faster and greener. We have combined Floorspan prestressed concrete T-beams with expanded polystyrene (EPS) panels. This combination creates a flooring solution with high levels of thermal insulation.

- Project Briefing - At Floorspan we have had the pleasure of working with customers with different sorts of needs on almost every project imaginable. We believe this variety makes us better at what we do. Over the years, we have learned the importance of getting to know the project. This way, we can produce a practical, well considered layout and quotation.
- Design - Enquiries, no matter the size, are generally subject to a detailed design process. Information provided by the customer is interpreted to produce layout drawings using our bespoke software package. Suggestions which will improve the layout, offer savings in time or labour, or aid the installation process are presented to the customer and an itemised quotation is produced.
- Delivery - A simple ‘delivery’ can often be let down by poor planning and logistics. This is a situation we are determined to avoid; getting your pre-stressed concrete product to you in a timely and efficient manner is hugely important to us.
- Installation - Using our installation service can often be the best way of guaranteeing that this important stage of your build achieves maximum value and efficiency. We have installed countless prestressed concrete floors and have the process down to a fine art, so you can rely on the quality of our work.
