Using our expertise, we find high quality solutions that meet the individual needs of each customer. From package pumping stations and submersible pumps, to installations and fluid storage systems, we are dedicated to providing the best customer service from start to finish.

With both customers and the environment in mind, we have also developed a process that minimises waste and guarantees the best quality possible. Using large production facilities to pre-assemble our products, all construction takes place in a controlled environment.

Adoptable Pumping Stations
When designing and installing a pumping station, it’s important for developers to ensure that they are “adoptable”. This means they have been designed to comply with the specifications outlined by Sewers for Adoption, allowing the local water authority to take on the responsibility of all future maintenance and running costs.

GRP Package Pumping Stations
With a comprehensive range of tanks available, we have become one of the leading specialists in the design, manufacture and maintenance of GRP pumping stations.

Our teams have combined innovation and technology to create sustainable pumping stations that offer a range of benefits. Not only do they offer storage and attenuation solutions, but they also reduce excavation, improve health and safety, and offer an easy installation.

Installation & Refurbishment
Our fully qualified team of electrical and mechanical engineers will install all the mechanical & electrical equipment your product requires, and unless you choose GRP or Polyethylene, we can even install into pre-cast concrete chambers.

Before any work commences, we will also submit all method statements and risk assessments in order to ensure the project satisfies all health and safety regulations set out by CDM.

Integrated Systems
Our team of innovators have designed high-tech pumping systems exclusive to All Pump Solutions, each offering a range of benefits that guarantee quality and ease of use. Our SeptaPump® has even been used in large-scale projects such as Birse Rail and Rugeley by-pass.

Pumps & Controls
Using our expertise, we have designed a range of intelligent pump controls that meet UK standards. All of our control panels help to monitor the performance of your pumping station, highlighting any potential issues that may need addressing.

We have a comprehensive range of pump control panels to suit every need, from basic start-stop functions to state-of-the-art control systems.

Poynton Relief Road - Cheshire East

The Poynton Relief Road is a £26.5m Poynton Relief Road program to create a 3.5km long, two-way single-carriageway road. We alongside the main contractor GRAHAM to deliver drainage solutions for Cheshire East Council for the upgrade of two off-site junctions at Adlington Crossroads and Bonis Hall Lane, both of which are situated along the A523 London Road.

Additional features of the Poynton Relief Road include cycleway and footway facilities, two new accommodation overbridges, and balancing ponds for drainage.

This project is a central component of the South East Manchester Multi-Modal strategy. This aims to relieve the existing traffic around Poynton town and improve connectivity between Macclesfield, Stockport, Manchester Airport, and the surrounding area.

The scheme will also deliver a range of complementary measures on the A523 London Road to Macclesfield, that address road safety and congestion while mitigating wider environmental impacts from traffic.

Councillor Craig Browne, Cheshire East Council deputy leader and chair of the council’s highways and transport committee, said: “This new road will bring about considerable change and relief for residents in Poynton, and the surrounding area, who have tolerated many decades of heavy traffic. I want to thank the people of Poynton, Woodford and Bramhall for their patience and tolerance during the periods of unavoidable disruption. The council has an outstanding record in delivering major infrastructure projects and the Poynton Relief Road is another example of our commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents through reduced traffic and improved air quality. It’s been described as the ‘missing link’ because it was originally planned alongside the new A555 Manchester Airport Relief Road – which was future-proofed to accommodate the Poynton Relief Road."

APS designed a pumping station in collaboration with Arcadis, to collect all surface water runoff from the impermeable catchment of 1.4ha and overcome the low point in the road. The flows are then pumped onwards to a high point in the drainage system, where it can then gravitate to a pond.  In the unlikely event that a pump failure occurs during a 1 in 30-year (with 20% climate change) in accordance with the works information. To comply with this requirement, the attenuation tank will provide a storage capacity of 740m3, pumping a combined flow of 320 l/s (3 duty and 1 standby mode) along a 705 metre rising main. APS Advanced Telemetry monitoring is provided, which the APS service team can remotely monitor keeping close watch on the performance of the pumping station.

Congleton Link Road - East Cheshire

Wolstenholme Elmy Way, formerly known as the Congleton Link Road through its development, is a £90million project that will link the A534 Sandbach Road to the A536 Macclesfield Road creating an approximate 5.5km bypass around the north-western edge of Congleton.

The link road will reduce town centre traffic congestion, cut pollution and improve air quality. Benefitting people’s health, the environment and the existing businesses in the town, which has seen reduced inward investment.

The scheme will bring economic and social regeneration to the local area by supporting new development sites and improving access to local business centres.

The route, which has been constructed by contractor Graham Construction, will be known as the Wolstenholme Elmy Way, after the famous pioneering educationalist and votes for women campaigner, Elizabeth Clarke Wolstenholme Elmy.

All Pump Solutions was proud to be chosen by Graham Construction to supply the pumping solutions for the project with a number of unique challenges in an area subject to a high water table. We designed, installed and commissioned two separate pumping stations for the historic £90m project.

The first solution was to design, install and commission a type 2 foul water pumping station that would serve a small development with appropriate emergency storage. This would meet the requirements of the sewers for adoption addendum set out by United Utilities. This was achieved by using two pumps that allow for a flow rate of approximately 4.49 litres/second 52 metres horizontally with 3 metres vertically.

In addition to this, we also supplied, installed and commissioned a surface water pumping station. Which, whilst it was not adoptable, there was the additional challenge of being situated to provide effective flood alleviation for the newly built link road. Therefore, allowing drivers to make the best use of the road regardless of the weather conditions.

This pumping station makes use of our Heavy Specification GRP+ Vertical Chamber and DN200 pipework to deliver a flow rate of 41.54 litres/second along a rising main of 440m.

All of this was achieved, despite the added pressures and challenges of delivering a large scale project during the Covid pandemic, which affected meant we and many of our suppliers and partners had to take special measures to protect workers.

Craven Cottage Pumping Station Upgrade

We were delighted to be selected to supply several pumping stations to support the ongoing growth of Craven Cottage, the home of Fulham FC since 1896.

Fulham FC has chosen to expand the capacity of their Riverside Stand. This will take the total stadium capacity up to 29,600 seats almost doubling the capacity in the Riverside stand alone. In order to achieve this additional drainage and sewage requirements were sorely needed. All Pump Solutions are proud to have supplied the pumping stations to such an iconic stadium. There were the additional challenges of ensuring that the system designed and installed would not only be suitable for the long-term future of the stand but that the risk of contaminating local waterways was eradicated. This most notably includes the Thames, which in some places in less than 10m away from the stadium.

The pumping stations, which include a  bespoke 80,000 litre storage capacity GRP+ “Special” specification pumping station, Will cater for the additional capacity in the stand as well as numerous other additions being made. These additions include nine serviced apartments as well as new restaurants, cafés, bars, corporate hospitality, and event space throughout the stand.

At All Pump Solutions, we have used our 50-years of expertise to develop a solution to meet the demands of the stadium. With a factory-fitted benched floor installed at a gradient with a channel to drain into the sump and avoid septicity and solids build up. APS designed the system to incorporate Duty/Standby Javelin pumps and controls – all installed ready for the football season to kick off

National Apprenticeship Week 2020 at APS

National Apprenticeship Week 2020 (NAW2020) is almost over.

All Pump Solutions is proud to work alongside our partners to invest in developing the mechanical and electronic engineers of the future.

Our mechanical/electrical apprenticeships get the best of both worlds whilst under the combined tutelage of our experienced engineers and our educational partners. By choosing to get paid and learn at the same time, our apprentices gain valuable qualifications and hands-on experience that will set them up for highly rewarding and engaging careers with us. These qualifications include CSCS, confined space and SSSTS.

Responsibility

From their very first day, these future engineers are given task ownership and hands-on training. Furthermore, once they have passed their site safety course they are able to gain invaluable experience on sites ranging from small property developments to large scale industrial facilities.  Some of our past apprentices have made huge contributions to some of our most interesting projects.

How we benefit from apprenticeships

However, it is not just the budding engineers who are able to benefit from the apprenticeship scheme. Despite being a market-leading business we are still able to learn a lot from our apprentices who come to us with a fresh viewpoint and a willingness to push themselves to develop, which as a result creates new areas that we can pursue.

“For us the greatest part of investing in our apprentices is being able to see their knowledge, ability and confidence develop, knowing that they have years of experience in the business to support them as they learn and grow as engineers.”

Our training doesn’t just stop when our apprentices qualify. This is because our ongoing support means that we will continue to fund courses throughout their careers with us. Past courses have included the Prince2 Project management course and the NICEIC Electrical Wiring course.

“What is also amazing to see is that once completing their apprenticeships newly qualified engineers choose to stay with us and pass their knowledge on to the next generation of apprentices.” - Roger Pocock, Director

Pumping Stations are key to Rugby

The Six-nations rugby competition kicks off this weekend with Wales taking on Italy at the Principality Stadium. Ireland will then face off against Scotland and France host England on Sunday. This marks the start of a huge year for European sport with the European Championships and Ryder Cup following later in the year.

With this in mind, we thought that we would take a look at how pumping stations can benefit rugby grounds.

How many rugby matches do you see being postponed because the pitch is waterlogged?

We can’t remember seeing any at the international grounds that will be in use over the next month, Twickenham, Stade de France, Stadio Olimpico, Murrayfield, the Principality Stadium or the Aviva Stadium.

The last major flooded pitch would have been during the world cup when the Japanese teams training ground flooded. There was nothing that could have been done to stop that after all hurricanes don’t happen all the time.

A fewer number of matches each year are postponed as you go down the league structure. This is down to the increasing quality of the drainage that can be afforded and installed. This water that is drained away has to have somewhere to go in order to work effectively. This is where the pumping stations come in to play.

How do pumping stations help in Rugby?

Like the vast majority of sports, the pitch is a crucial part of the game and can have a huge effect on the game. A quality pitch is also crucial in avoiding serious injuries occurring. This is because the safety of players in aspects such as scrums can be linked to the quality of the footing that they have.

Being able to manage and maintain the playing surface is seen as such a big factor in most sports that there are regulations that dictate minimum qualities. Rugby is one of these. With most of the international level pitches being hybrids of artificial and real grass to maintain the integrity of the pitch.

As such having sufficient water supply allows the ground staff to maintain pitches so that they can avert major damage. The use of pumping stations will allow for rainwater and excess water from sprinklers to be gathered, attenuated and then reused to irrigate the pitch.

Financial benefits?

Depending on the size of the area that is being drained the initial cost of the attenuation and pumping system can be daunting, however with the long term reductions in water costs across the stadium the benefits can be hugely impactful. These systems are unlikely to be used solely to drain the pitch and can also be used to drain the roof.

Because these systems will not discharge into the public water network, they can make use of GRP package pumping stations and a wider range of pumps ensuring that the efficiency of the system is maximised for each individual stadium.

Example system

All Pump Solutions have been chosen to design, manufacture and supply a number of systems for sporting arenas.

The most recent is the new York Community Stadium. The 8000 seater stadium will be home to both York City FC and York City Knights Rugby League Football Club. As well as this the stadium will host games in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.

It was decided that APS would manufacture and supply one of our exclusively patented Integrapump® systems (Patent Number GB2447308). The 4m diameter and 16.5m length package pumping station had a total capacity of 200,000 litres. This meant that the drainage for the stadium would be effectively managed whilst the system would be easy to maintain through the integrated valve chamber.

Doncaster IPort Pumping Station Project

Doncaster IPort covers a 337-acre site. It contains 6 million sq. ft of warehousing space and 3 million sq. ft of detailed planning consent, as well as a dedicated rail freight terminal.

All Pump Solutions were tasked with designing an adoptable sewer system that could handle the drainage requirements for almost 1.1million sq.ft of warehousing and office space.

To achieve this All Pump Solutions supplied, installed and commissioned two pumps with individual flow rates of up to 7 l/sec alongside all the necessary pipework and valves and an external control panel. We were able to align ourselves closely with the local water authority to ensure that this installation was designed and manufactured to their Sewers for Adoption 7th edition specifications. As well as working alongside Severn Trent Water, we worked closely with the on-site contractors tasked with constructing the site.

All Pump Solutions successfully designed, supplied, installed and commissioned the project from start to finish. Because of this success, our engineers have remained on-site. With further pumping stations required for additional phases of the Doncaster IPort.
