From functional spaces to luxurious escapes, every project we deliver is built to meet the exact needs of a different individual. When it comes to construction, we don’t need you to lift a finger. The Horto team will hand-make your room on site using high-quality, sustainable sourced materials.
Over the course of almost four decades, Horto has built a reputation for impeccable craftsmanship and brilliant customer service. We are a family run company, based in Knaresborough, with over 35 years’ experience in the building industry. Gary Robinson, the Company Director, started out as an apprentice joiner, working his way up to Senior Site Manager with some of the country’s leading construction and house building companies.
During this time, he has been awarded Site Manager of the Year, Safe Site, Considerate Constructor, Development Team of the Year and several NHBC Top 100 Awards. He has also gained a qualification with the Chartered Institute of Building.
Our company has a small, solid team who are with you every step of the way to create your unique Horto Everyday Space.
Specification
Your Horto Garden Room is inclusive of an engineer designed pile foundation system, structural timber framed walls, clad with Thermowood or Western Red Cedar, Trapezoidal polyester coated metal roof system, half-round gutter and fall pipe connected into a water butt with tap. PVC-u double glazed French door set and 2 x fixed glazed side panels, all finished in dark grey externally and white internally. Your Horto Garden Room is fully insulated with 100mm rigid foil faced insulation boards, giving excellent u-values which achieve a higher rating than current housing standards.
Your Horto Garden Room has a plasterboard and traditional plaster skim finish, MDF window and door reveals with moulded architrave and skirting boards. The floor surface is finished with an oak effect laminate floor. The electrics package includes 1 x consumer unit, 4 x double sockets, one of which has a 3.1a 2G USB charging facility, central ceiling light, 5 x LED canopy lights, (only applicable to garden rooms with a canopy), 2 x external wall lights, 1 x 3-way light switch and 1 x variable temperature wall mounted panel heater with a 24hr timer for efficient heating. Sockets, switches and light fittings are finished in satin chrome.

Our experience and expertise creating garden rooms is extensive. Using the Horto Everyday Space as the mainframe, we can create variations of this to meet your own requirements. However, if you want a complete bespoke build then we can create this too, all the way from design and planning, right through to the building installation.

Working with Horto to create our Garden Room was a pleasure from start to finish. Having dealt with a number of big companies in the last year and having been disappointed by the quality of service, working with Horto was like a breath of fresh air. Gary and Ellen were clear about what would be delivered and are passionate about helping people create their own garden spaces. Prior to the build there were some delays from us due to planning checks however Horto were able to be flexible to our needs and accommodated the revised timescales without issue. When the build phase commenced there were some last minute changes to siting in the garden but, again, Gary and the team dealt with these confidently and put us at ease. The final room is fantastic and was installed quickly, professionally and to a very high standard of finish. Our Garden Room has already made a big difference to us by accommodating all our office needs which has meant that we’re able to get the ‘work’ out of the house. We cannot speak highly enough of Horto and would highly recommend using them to others (and we have already!)

Great people to deal with - we thoroughly enjoyed working with the entire team from Horto throughout the project.
Fully customised build - built to meet our requirements and fully constructed on site, not a modular assembly. Gary was fully involved in helping us create a design specification that accommodated our needs, including the pitched room we wanted.
We did research before selecting Horto and have not for one second regretted that decision. The design features, build quality and final product is far superior to many others products that we saw being offered.
Gary & Ellen were involved throughout the design and build and shared their experience to refine our ideas with their suggestions to create a superb garden room & gym. The pictures speak for themselves.
All their team were prompt, hard working, courteous and professional in their approach. Some may say my standards are too high and I am very particular, but Horto exceeded even my expectations. We would also give a shout out to John & Louis as great support to Gary and excellent ambassadors for the business. The electrician Neil and window supplier Steve, also bent over backwards to ensure everything was completed to a very high standard. They all worked as a fully cohesive team.
The business is fully insured and the building is guaranteed with a 3rd party provider so peace of mind for years to come.
