Plumbworld Host Recruitment Open Evening

Construction News Image
Plumbworld the UK's largest online bathroom retailer have recently hosted a hugely successful recruitment open evening.

With unemployment still at record levels around the 2.4million mark, the highest levels since 1996! Plumbworld were keen to promote their success and expansion with a recruitment open evening, by opening their doors to people far and wide searching for jobs.

Plumbworld currently have a number of vacancies at their site in Evesham, from Customer Services, Warehouse Operatives, to Commercial Analysts.

Whilst opening their doors to jobseekers seems an easy task, with the number of people scheduled to turn up for the various positions, it turned into a military operation for Plumbworld! With over 100 people turning up for the open evening, the car park was jam packed and queues of people were spilling out of the doors onto the industrial estate! At one point the Financial Director and Purchasing Manager from Plumbworld, usually responsible for the cracking Bathroom Suite Deals they have on the website, were resigned to car parking attendants to ensure the smooth entry and exit of all visitors!

Karen Rayfield, HR Director of Plumbworld said: "We have been inundated with applicants for all the positions, CV’s, letters and the open evening just proved to us how tough the job market is at the moment. The open evening helped a great deal and we aimed to answer as many questions relating to the roles as possible which I think everyone who attended found extremely interesting and worthwhile. We will of course be following our usual recruitment procedure which will then lead to final selection of the right candidates, this could take some time due to the huge volume of applicants!"

Plumbworld used the open evening as an opportunity to introduce members of the public to the company, and to help the current employment situation in and around the area. Most of the people who showed up for the open evening gave extremely positive feedback about the way it was handled and appreciated the chance to actually speak to people regarding the jobs advertised, which in the present climate is near impossible with most other companies.

James Hickman, Managing Director of Plumbworld said: "The evening was a huge success, with more people than we could ever of imagined turning up to see the relevant product managers about the jobs. First port of call was reception where all the candidates were signed in, registered and had their photos taken, next was on to the boardroom here at Plumbworld where myself and Sean Foy, Operations Director, led groups of people in a short but informative presentation about Plumbworld. Then onto the relevant Managers for some quick 10 minute interviews giving briefs about the jobs and allowing the candidates to ask any questions! All-in-all a massive success!"

Plumbworld sell a huge range of bathroom suites and showers and enclosures, top quality products at extremely competitive prices.
