McGee Group has announced that it has once again received the prestigious Gold Award in the Considerate Contractor Scheme 2009 from the City of London.
McGee Group is one of Europe's leading civil, structural, demolition and decontamination specialists and has a specialist team in each of its four key divisions. The Considerate Contractor Scheme, pioneered by the City of London in 1987 encourages building and civil engineering contractors, working in the City, to carry out their operations in a safe and considerate manner, with due regard to passing pedestrians and road users.
The Considerate Contractor Scheme is a co-operative initiative open to all contractors undertaking building and civil engineering in the City of London and is another award which McGee has added to its long list of honours. McGee received the award for its work on the demolition of the 17 storey office tower above the live Cannon Street Station concourse and a further 9 storey office building above the station roof.
The project is a major redevelopment of the site by Hines UK, a global, development company and one of the world’s largest private real estate developers. All works were undertaken in coordination with the Main Contractor, Laing O’Rourke, Network Rail, London Underground and other trade contractors. The station was kept open by means of a carefully devised passenger access plan, whereby passenger routes were diverted from time to time, according to programme.
McGee Group completed the work on the "Bush Lane Project" complying with the City of London's code of practise and Cannon Street, a National Rail and London Underground station in the heart of London's financial district stayed operational throughout the entire project.
