Current Economic Climate Prompts SED To Postpone

Organisers of the SED show have taken the decision to call it off in 2010.

The next National Event for Construction will now take place from 17, 18 and 19 May 2011, from which point it will continue to run as an annual event at its Rockingham Motor Speedway home.

A spokesperson from the show said: "Although, after a challenging 2009 we were all looking forward to 2010 with renewed optimism, we have taken the decision to call off SED 2010."

When speaking with SED exhibitors and other industry professionals, the consensus seemed to be that, although an improvement is expected around April 2010, a significant, established upturn would not be seen until the end of the year.

This obviously means that, although construction is recovering, budgets would still need to be managed tightly. Also, and significantly, 2010 unexpectedly became a three construction event year as a result of Hillhead's postponement from 2009.

"We know that for those of you who already have a commitment to Bauma or Hillhead, a year's grace from SED will most certainly relieve pressure on your 2010 promotional budgets," said Tim Porter, head of sales at SED.

Future planning for the next show will be done against the backdrop of previous 'exceptional' events. A year's break for SED means that the team can work harder and longer on the new show plans and initiatives.
