Szerelmey Introduces Light Weight External Wall System To Speed Up Construction

Szerelmey is launching a lightweight prefabricated wall structure combined with external stone cladding which significantly speeds up construction and cuts overall costs.

The system comprises a series of steel framed, lightweight, easily transportable, insulated panels which are constructed and stored off-site.

Once delivered to site they can be easily and quickly erected forming the non-load bearing structure, closing the building off and making it watertight and insulated, Szerelmey’s design allows for the use of external stone cladding as well as thin coat renders and other rain-screen cladding finishes.

A panel can incorporate windows and doors and can be manufactured and transported in units of up to 40sqm. Approximately 400sqm can be erected in a week by a four man team, meaning the entire building envelope can be up and weather proof in a very short time.

The system has great cost and time saving advantages over the traditional method of site construction where wet trades or steel erectors are used to construct backing structures that are costly, time consuming and require large resource.

With the ever increasing importance of cost effectiveness and time saving in the current economic climate the system offers exactly what Szerelmey’s clients are looking for.

Greg Verhoef of Szerelmey commented: "Efficiency of this sort is what will keep the construction industry going and drive it to full recovery. Prefabricated backup walls increase the speed and efficiency of our building projects, the cost savings on labour and time are huge. Having the wall prefabricated off-site also results in a cleaner and tidier environment and this has a positive effect for the healh and safety management of projects as well as eliminating many on site logistical problems."

Szerelmey is currently using the method on the new Clinical Building at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
