NCC Launches New Courses

In response to the UK Contractors Group’s (UKCG) recent training standard, which now demands that all supervisors working on their sites have recognised supervisory qualifications, the National Construction College (NCC) has launched two new training courses for supervisors.

The courses are designed for all site managers – both experienced and those new to the role - who have supervisory responsibilities.

The Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme is a two-day programme which will give delegates an understanding of how health and safety law is structured, how to carry out risk assessments and method statements as well as how to deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and briefings.

The Supervising Behavioural Practice course, which has been developed in conjunction with the Olympic Development Authority (ODA), consists of three half-day modules which will teach learners to recognise the personal skills that each member brings to a team as well as identifying dynamics in the workforce and how to bring out the best in your team.

Andy Walder, Director of the NCC, explained: "The construction industry is continually evolving and the workforce needs to keep in step with new legislation and requirements. As Europe’s largest construction training provider, as well as the training arm of ConstructionSkills, we are in a unique position to be able to provide the first-class training that will allow the UKCG’s projects to be completed on time and to standard at the same time as strengthening the skills of the workers."
