Each year The Sunday Times celebrates the best small, mid-size and big workplaces in the UK.
Published on 28th February, Bauder Ltd was named and awarded 24th place in the category for Small Companies. This is the 7th year of the awards and entries saw over 500 small firms taking part; and every year the prestige of this list builds as it becomes the last word in staff engagement and outstanding working practices.
Bauder supplies flat roofing materials and has been based in Ipswich for 30 years. The company is a market leader in sustainable products for green roofs utilising recycled materials such as brick with composted pine bark, old clothing, shredded used tyres and plastic drink bottles. Bauder delivered the first green roof in the UK to be declared a nature reserve which is at a primary school in Sheffield.
In all, 37,597 employees from 571 companies were surveyed based on a rigorous methodology which identifies workplace performance and best practice according to eight key factors. These factors are particularly significant as they are defined through the results from the survey process, and therefore by employees themselves, as critical factors in workplace engagement.
The survey of Bauder staff, carried out by Best Companies for The Sunday Times revealed that managing director, Andrew Mackenzie inspires his staff (87%), while managers truly live the firm’s values (88%) and listen rather than tell people what to do (80%). Staff say they are proud to work for the company (90%).
Andrew Mackenzie, Managing Director of Bauder Ltd, said: "We are proud to be named within the Sunday Times Best 100 Companies initiative and thoroughly delighted to be ranked 24th. This is real testament to everybody in the Company and the way we all get on and work so well together."
The list of the 100 top companies in each size category is compiled by Best Companies and published by The Sunday Times.
