Balfour Beatty Awarded Hartlepool BSF Contract

Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group, announces today that it has been awarded the initial scheme of the £95 million Hartlepool Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme by Hartlepool Borough Council.

The Hartlepool BSF programme involves the rebuilding and replacement of six schools over the next five years. Construction of the initial sample school, Dyke House Sports and Technology College, will begin this summer with completion by Christmas 2011.


Balfour Beatty Chief Executive, Ian Tyler, said: "We are delighted to have been selected to deliver first-class learning environments for the students, teachers and communities of Hartlepool. We have made a commitment to regenerate and sustain the local economy as part of our contract and we look forward to delivering these commitments throughout the construction period."

The other schemes within the Hartlepool BSF programme include building, refurbishing or remodelling Catcote Business and Enterprise College (SEN), Manor College of Technology, High Tunstall College of Science, and English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College with a new pupil referral unit.
