Lovell Scoops £1.25m Homes Scheme

Lovell has been chosen by Spa Housing Association to build the £1.25 million first phase of a new affordable housing development in the village of Wychbold, near Droitwich in Worcestershire.

With £580,000 of investment through the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the first phase of the scheme will create eight two-bedroom houses and six two-bedroom apartments for affordable rent and low-cost home ownership. Spa Housing, part of the Festival Housing Group, plans to redevelop the De Wyche Road site with a total of 29 new homes in two phases with Lovell.

Local residents will start seeing major changes on site from September, with the first phase of new homes set to be completed in June 2011. The housing scheme replaces 30 existing flats and follows extensive consultation with residents. A number of residents will move from existing flats into the new homes being built in the first phase of the redevelopment before work begins on the second stage.

Gwenda Cope, Development Manager at Festival Housing Group, commented: "We are very pleased to have secured funding from and be working in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency. This development will make a significant difference to the local residents and wider community and we look forward to working with Lovell."
