Lovell and local affordable housing provider Fairlake are set to create a £10.5 million development at Bassaleg, a popular location on the west side of Newport.
The 82-home development – which will be called Parc Eglwys – will create brand-new homes for open market sale and increase affordable housing options for local people.
Lovell will build 40, two- and three-bedroom houses for open market sale with the first properties set to be released for sale early this summer. A further 42 affordable apartments are being delivered in partnership with Fairlake, (part of Seren Group), and with Newport City Council. Twenty-four will be exclusively available for people over the age of 55 through the fairlakeliving home ownership scheme and the remaining 18 apartments will be offered on a Rent to Buy basis through Charter Options.
Construction work is starting this month and the scheme – designed by Hammonds architects – is due to complete in summer 2013.
"We are delighted to be working in partnership with Newport City Council and Lovell to increase the availability of affordable housing in the area for both older people and aspiring home owners. Parc Eglwys is a real example of a high-quality mixed tenure development and both Lovell and Fairlake really appreciate the support of the Council in extending the choice of affordable homes in this popular part of the city," says Rhys Parry, Fairlake's new business and development manager.
"We have a strong relationship with Fairlake and are delighted to be working in partnership to deliver these new homes which will widen the choice and availability of affordable home ownership options locally and help answer the local demand for high-quality first-time buyer properties and for smaller family homes for sale," said Lovell regional director Nick Kurobasa.
The consistently high standards of quality and service achieved by Lovell have won top ratings from homebuyers. Lovell received a maximum five stars – the highest possible performance – from purchasers in the HBF (Home Builders Federation) National New Home Customer Satisfaction Survey 2010.
