A leading construction recruitment firm has vowed to buck the market trend by unveiling ambitious growth plans that will see it increase turnover to more than £7 million after just four years in operation.
Caval is based in Yorkshire but places teams of construction workers on sites across the UK. It launched in March 2008 and in its first year turned over £3 million, followed by figures of £4 million and £4.5 million in subsequent years.
Caval is currently ahead of schedule to hit its target of £7.5m turnover for 2011/12 – and strategic director Pete Bevils say they have no plans to slow down there.
Caval's operational team is growing with the company – it now directly employs eight people, places an average of 500 construction workers in positions each week and has a roster of 100,000 construction, mechanical and electrical specialists across a range of disciplines.
Bevils admitted that such significant growth was bucking the general trends either in construction or recruitment, but put the success down to an unrivalled knowledge of the construction sector.
"We are very proud of our success so far but there is nothing fortunate about it – we run an incredibly tight ship here with a very focused structure and we have four operational directors who know construction like the back of their hands," added Bevils, who has recently been given a Fellowship in the Chartered Institute Of Civil Engineering Surveyors.
"Timing and attention to detail are everything – we know when and where work needs to be done, and when significant recruitment is needed on major projects.
"We have now built an impressive word-of-mouth reputation and are on approved supplier lists with major construction employers across the UK."
