At the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) conference in Harrogate (21 – 23 June 2011), Mansell Renewables will launch its new one-stop service for the design, funding, installation and maintenance of roof-mounted photovoltaic panels to existing homes and properties for the generation of electricity utilising solar power.
This service supports housing and commercial customers in meeting the Government's targets for renewable energy usage and reducing fuel poverty. Installation and the service are free of charge to the landlord and end user or tenant in return for Mansell Renewables collecting The Department of Energy and Climate Change's Feed-in Tariff (FIT).
The FIT scheme guarantees minimum payments for all electricity generated via renewable sources at a property plus additional payments for any surplus electricity exported back in to the national grid. The Mansell Renewables solution is designed as an alternative to direct procurement and receipt of the FIT by the landlord.
It is estimated that the savings from a typical domestic photovoltaic installation of 2.7kWp would equate to up to 40% of the tenant’s annual electricity charge. The Government target is to reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2018.
Affordable Housing Director, Marcus Keys, said: "Our customers are increasingly asking for added value from their construction partners, Mansell Renewables allows us to offer an enhanced service, utilising the benefits of the Government Feed-in Tariff Scheme as well as the Renewable Heat Incentive and Green Deal initiatives. This represents an exciting new opportunity for Mansell in line with our growth strategy and aspirations for the housing business as a whole."
