The £2.2 million new pool and multi-sensory equipment was built by Kier Moss and will provide an invaluable facility for the Stroud special school's pupils and severely physically disabled children across the region.

Regular pool sessions are a hugely important form of therapy for pupils as being in the warm water increases physical endurance, improves muscle strength and offers relief from pain and spasm.
Hundreds of firms, individuals and charitable organisations have helped to make the facility at St Rose's a reality since the school launched its Smile Appeal in May 2008. And after three years of fundraising, the official opening by Olympic swimming star Sharron Davies, marked the end of the wait.
The new pool includes an overhead tracking hoist system to gently move users from the new changing rooms, constructed as part of the project, into the pool and features a noise-responsive sensory lighting system that projects images of dolphins and brightly coloured shapes onto the water.
