Exciting new development proposals for affordable housing will be unveiled at a drop-in event at Shirehall, Shrewsbury, today Wednesday 21 September.
Proposals are to develop a piece of land owned by and once used by Shropshire Council as a grit store at Underdale Road, Shrewsbury.
Officers from the council, the developer Bromford Housing Group and its consultants will be available between 3pm and 7pm on Wednesday to take comments and answer any questions about the draft proposals for 14 homes.
The plans are at an early stage, and it’s hoped the discussion will inform and shape the proposals and any impact on the immediate surrounding area.
Councillor Malcolm Price, Cabinet member for housing, said: "We have an extremely high demand for affordable housing throughout Shrewsbury and the county as a whole. Council-owned brownfield sites like this are really important development opportunities to help us meet the housing need in Shropshire."
Miles Kenny, local Shropshire Councillor for Underdale, said: "Development will take place on this difficult site one way or another, and more than likely from an established company, who will continue to manage the development long after the builders have gone. I hope everyone living in the area will have a look at the plans and if they want to discuss anything with me, be it trying to get something extra from the developers for the area, or to voice support or to object, I would be pleased to listen to them. I am impartial in this matter, but I am also realistic."
