Where To Live During A Self Build

With more and more people diving into the world of self-build, and Kevin McCloud leading the way in the new Government initiative, the self build surge, more of you will be living in pokey caravans or at your in-laws for a significant amount of time.

Building a new home is a stressful time, so it is important that you are comfortable and have somewhere to retreat to at the end of the day – after all, who can be relaxed in a fold-down bunk-bed in a giant tin can?

To save yourself some time (and hassle of your other half’s mother), why not invest in a garden log cabin to live in during the build? This way, you’ll always be on-site to oversee the work, and will have the opportunity to convert it to an out-of-house office, sauna or guest bedroom when the house is complete.

A garden studio doesn’t have to be an expensive addition to a new build either – these log cabins from Argos are easy to put up and wont make a huge dent in your already tight budget.

Living in a permanent structure will also provide extra storage for essential items of furniture – your bed(s), wardrobe, clothes and kitchen utensils, and will provide a little stability for any small family members during the upheaval.
