Kier has won a new five-year contract to provide facilities management services to 48 fire stations across South London. The contract with London Fire Brigade starts this month and has an estimated total value of £3.5m.
The business has a long-standing relationship with London Fire Brigade and, as part of the new contract, Kier will provide a wide range of services to fire stations including managing and maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, fire alarms and elements of the building fabric.
A team of engineers will be deployed to carry out the work including one resident engineer who will be based in the HQ building in Southwark.
As part of the contract Kier will develop individual maintenance strategies for each of the 48 stations covered by the contract. This innovative business-focused maintenance approach, which will be developed in the first 15 months of the contract, will provide London Fire with a truly flexible, cost effective approach across their property portfolio.
Operations Director for Kier, Adrian Lemarie, said: "The team was awarded the contract due to Kier’s reputation for quality work and the firm’s experience in providing FM services to organisations where speed of response is critical.
"It's great news for Kier and we are pleased to be able to further strengthen our relationship with the Fire and Rescue Services in London and to develop our expertise in the ‘blue light’ sector."
Kier has considerable experience of working with the emergency services with clients such as Sussex, Devon & Cornwall and Avon & Somerset Police Forces.
This latest contract follows the recent appointment of Blue3, a consortium of Kier and Dutch Infrastructure Fund (DIF), to deliver the design, build, financing and maintenance of nine fire stations on behalf of the London Fire Brigade.
