Nearlygrass Creates Perfect Fake Grass Garden For Birmingham School

Construction News Image
Baskerville School in Birmingham is a special day and residential school for students aged 11 to 19 years with autistic spectrum disorders and complex difficulties. They decided to improve the schools facilities and reduce general maintenance by installing an artificial grass surface which will look and feel outstanding all year round.

The school selected Playrite’s Nearlygrass 24, a tightly tufted, durable turf that can withstand many years of constant use whilst still being soft underfoot. A mid height yarn that is manufactured to create natural looking fibres with a 24mm pile height and a special holed latex backing for good drainage. The whole Nearlygrass range requires minimal maintenance and needs no watering or chemical treatments to keep it looking good, what’s more it never needs cutting, weeding or feeding reducing time and money spent and a surface like this can last up to ten years.

Due to delays, the school ended up needing the Nearlygrass 24 delivering quickly and installing before September when the pupils returned after the summer holidays. Michael Parkes from Forever Green www.forever-greengrass.co.uk/ worked on the project and with his team of experienced, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Their mission is to go the extra mile to stand out from the rest, which as a small, independently run business they are able to achieve by putting their customers first at all times. Working with Playrite's Sean Colbert, they managed to ensure that the project was completed by the time the new term started so all the children could enjoy their Nearlygrass surface.

Sheila Williams, Business Manager at Baskerville School explained how: "Everyone at the school is really happy with how the Nearlygrass product looks. The area is getting a lot of use already but even with the bad weather we've had still look pristine. Playrite were a great help and went out of their way to ensure we got the surface quickly and efficiently."
