Roundhill is a large detached property in Hampstead which had been recently constructed by Walter Lilly. Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltdwho are one of Walter Lilly’s supply chain contractors were called in and asked for their proposals to fill any void areas of the impressive central unsupported Italian stone staircase.
Cemplas put forward proposals to fill the voids and a sample was first undertaken for the client’s approval. On acceptance of the sample Cemplas were awarded the contact and began works to ensure all open ends have been properly sealed to prevent grout loss.
The next stage was for Cemplas operatives to pour 5 litres of clean fresh water into a clean 45 ltr bucket and add SBD Five Star Grout mixing with a slow speed (450 rpm) drill and continue to mix the entire contents of a bag until a uniform consistency was achieved.
Cemplas primed the void to be grouted by pouring a quarter of a litre of clean fresh water into the void and ensuring the void has been evenly primed.
Immediately after priming Cemplas slowly poured the grout into the void lightly tapping the beam to help the grout settle and checking the levels until it had reached the top of the formwork ensuring that the void was fully filled and checking the seals to ensure no grout was being lost.
When the grout had reached the holes at the back of the steel beam they were capped off with cork bungs.
The client was delighted with the cosmetic appearance of the finished works and complimented Cemplas on a job well done.
