The National Federation of Builders is pleased to announce the appointment of Sandra Loton - Jones as Operations Executive for Wales.
Sandra will be responsible for retaining and recruiting NFB members within Wales as well as lobby the Welsh Government and national Government in order to improve policy and regulations on construction.
At the start of Sandra's career she worked within skills and human resources, initially with Glyndwr University / Deeside College and then with a Sector Skills Council (SSC). It was here that Sandra’s passion for skills and the development of people was recognised. During her employment with the SSC she was promoted from Regional Manager in Wales to Executive Director, then Director of Regions and Nations, where she was responsible for interaction and engagement on a UK wide basis with the private sector industry, the voluntary sector, partners, stakeholders and government.
From 2005 - 2010 she used her style, passion and experience to help maximise opportunities for the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) and its membership in her role as Chief Officer. Increasing membership and ensuring that the association provided relevant benefits to all aspects of the industry were her main priorities and integral to the success of BALI.
Sandra is experienced in operational management, organisational change, team building, maximising funding and business development. Her management and business skills have been utilised in delivering support and mentoring to the self employed, micro businesses and SMEs. Sandra’s vast experience in this area and insight will be extremely valued by both the NFB and its members.
Having worked across the UK and specifically in Wales in positions that have required the development of a thorough knowledge and understanding of the political system and legislative powers of government, she is able to undertake effective political and public affairs activity.
As an ambassador Sandra hopes to raise the profile of the NFB, influencing and lobbying, developing new contacts and in doing so increasing awareness of issues affecting members and enabling activities to be planned and programmed to adequately prepare businesses and partners within the sector.
