Linden Homes Honoured At Sunday Times British Homes Awards

Linden Homes has been honoured in the prestigious Sunday Times British Homes Awards 2012 for bringing to life a riverside site in Wiltshire containing a derelict Grade I listed building.

Judges awarded the Best Mixed Use title to Kingston Mills in Bradford-on-Avon town centre, on the banks of the River Avon. It features a range of converted and new individually designed homes by award-winning architectural firm, Nash Partnership, as well as shops, offices, cafes and public open space.

It extends Linden Homes' success from earlier this year in June when it added more silverware to its trophy cabinet by scooping the Housebuilder of the Year title in the Building magazine awards.

The Sunday Times British Homes Awards also noted Linden Homes’ achievements by commending it in the Homebuilder of the Year category, and shortlisting Kingston Mills again for Best Conversion.

Kingston Mills will eventually comprise 171 homes made up of a mixture of one and two-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom townhouses, and possibly a new bridge for pedestrians and cyclists across the river to the library.

In the mid-19th century, the site was home to a woollen mill and in 1848 became home to a rubber-works factory which eventually closed in 1992, leaving the site derelict.

Linden Homes representatives picked up their prize during a glittering ceremony at the London Marriott, in Grosvenor Square.

The awards' eleven categories drew entries from around the country delivered by home builders, developers, housing associations, architects and interior designers.

Linden Homes Group managing director, Ian Baker said: "This has been an excellent year of growth and achievement for Linden Homes and we are delighted to have been recognised again for the hard work and attention to quality that we pride ourselves on.

"To pick up yet another award after being named Housebuilder of the Year only a few months ago, shows how we are keeping up the momentum and delivering results for customers and communities."
