David Rowsell has been awarded one of the construction industry's top accolades for his work as Project Manager of the new Business School at Kingston University.
Recognised by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) at its annual Construction Manager of the Year awards, Rowsell was commended for his leadership of the Wates Construction team at the £18m Kingston University Business School building. The project was completed in December 2011.
Receiving a Gold award in the New Build and Refurbishment Projects £17 - £23m category, David commented: "It's an honour to receive this recognition from the CIOB, which is a testament to the whole team that worked together to deliver the new Business School for Kingston University."
The project included the construction of a new five story building which comprises of teaching space, informal learning space and a new home for the Faculty of Business Law.
The new building provides much needed improvements to the teaching and social space at Kingston Hill and plays an important part in the future development of the new Faculty of Business Law.
David continued: "The project was constructed on a campus, which is open and accessible to students 365 days a year, with zero impact to the students and staff, which is a great testament to the team involved.
"Sustainability was high on my agenda throughout the development and we were delighted that the project surpassed the contractual requirements to achieve a BREEAM Excellent."
Richard Shroll, Business Unit Director for Wates Construction, London, commented: "I am delighted that the CIOB has awarded David with this much deserved accolade. It is a true reflection of his professionalism and commitment to achieving consistently high standards in our industry, a passion that has led to the exceptional delivery of the new Business School at Kingston University on time and on budget."
