Contour Casings’ pioneering Aluminium parapet wall capping range withstood windspeeds of over 400mph during recent independent testing. The system is now being extensively used by Taylor Wimpey throughout Hampshire and Essex on chic apartments and sumptuous family homes.
Items tested withstood windspeeds equivalent to a maximum load of 20.0kN/m2. The maximum wind load experienced in the Outer Hebrides once every 10 years at a height of 10m is 1.68kN/m2. Testing was carried out by independent materials testing specialists Ceram.
The Taylor Wimpey schemes required a professional parapet wall capping solution that delivered a sleek aesthetic and robust weather-proofing performance. For this reason, the buyer for the site switched from the specified Zinc clad capping to Contour’s pioneering wall capping system.
Peter Yeung, Buyer for Taylor Wimpey, said: "The Zinc clad capping was labour intensive and costly compared to Contour’s Aluminium product. As the Contour system is manufactured in-house, the build quality and finish is far superior to what is achievable on site. The ease of installation was also a factor. We will specify the new system on other projects in the future."
The Contour capping system incorporates a number of unique features to combine a professional facade with a durable, low-maintenance performance, including; “Secret clip-fix” brackets for a fast installation and seamless finish, weather-proofing gaskets to drain water away, corrosion resistance, anti-rattle pads and a range of standard and bespoke options available in all RAL colours.
Contour Aluminium parapet wall capping is fabricated in-house, ensuring short lead times and complete stock and quality control. Contour offer a complete nationwide turnkey service. Dedicated technical support and delivery departments ensure projects conclude on time and on budget whenever Contour’s sustainable solutions are employed.
