JCB has unveiled a new single drum roller and two new compaction plates at the Executive Hire Show.
All three machines have been designed and engineered by JCB to meet the needs of local authorities, hire companies and contractors.
SD580 Single Drum Roller
The SD580 is a compact 580mm wide single drum roller that has been designed for small asphalt reinstatement work and groundcare duties where access prevents the use of a larger double drum machine. Powered by a proven Honda GX160 petrol engine, delivering 3.9hp (2.9kW), the SD580 weighs 185kg and delivers a centrifugal force of 10kN with a frequency of 76Hz.
Equipped as standard with a large 15 litre removable water tank, the SD580 has sprinkler controls fitted to the top of the roller and self-cleaning strips on the drum to prevent the build up of dirt. The height adjustable handle has been designed to provide compact dimensions for transportation.
A travel speed of 0-1.5km/h provides rapid relocation between working areas, reducing time for the operator and improving productivity. Bevelled drum edges remove the risk of marking the surface, again increasing performance for the operator.
JCB has also developed an optional trailer for the SD580, providing safe, efficient transportation between job sites. Available with a ring or ball hitch, the trailer, which complies with the latest towing legislation, has been specifically designed for a single drum roller, with an axle stand and lighting board included.
SE10-35 Forward Vibratory Plate
Designed for easy compaction of asphalt, soil and non-cohesive materials, JCB will preview the SE10-35 forward vibratory plate at the Hire Show, with its shaped base to allow improved manoeuvrability. Weighing 73kg, the SE10-35 has a plate width of 350mm and a plate length of 527mm. With a centrifugal force of 10.5kN and a frequency of 90Hz, the plate has a maximum travel speed of 23m/min and can handle up to a 30% grade.
The tubular frame provides both a lifting point and protection for the popular Honda GX120 petrol engine. Options include a paving pad, transport wheels and a water tank, to further increase versatility.
DE35-42 Reversible Vibratory Plate
Also being previewed at the show for the first time, the DE35-42 is a diesel-powered reversible plate weighing 240kg. Though enclosed in a sturdy protective cover, the machine provides easy access for both oil and fuel filling. Access to the air filter and battery is through a durable cover, while the control handle uses a ‘click lock’ system to lock it in the transport position.
A proven Hatz IB20 diesel engine with standard electric and recoil start provides the power to drive the machine, delivering a compaction frequency of 80Hz and a centrifugal force of 35kN across the 420mm wide plate. Maximum travel speed is 26m/min and the plate can be used for a variety of compaction tasks when moving forwards, backwards and in a stationary position. The control handles feature a forward speed lock and have been designed to be used by left or right handed operators.
