Wulvern Housing has laid the foundations for a new £8.4m Extra Care development in Northwich.
The Anderton Place scheme is the latest development by the group and will provide a new way of living for Cheshire's ageing population.
The project is the first of its kind in Northwich, and is being delivered in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council.
Offering a choice of 58 high-quality one and two bedroom apartments for rent and shared ownership, the development on the town’s Kingsmead estate will overlook the canal.
Senior Development Officer, Ann Lander, said: "Extra Care housing is the perfect choice for older people looking to enjoy an active and more independent lifestyle in their own spacious modern property with the reassurance of care and support from a 24 hour on-site team of professionals, as and when they need it."
The scheme will include purpose-built apartments with generously sized rooms and modern interiors. Each will have their own kitchens, wet floor shower rooms, spacious living space and the reassurance of 24-hour on site care staff.
Residents will also be able to take advantage of a bistro, hair and beauty salon, communal lounge and entertainment area, landscaped waterside gardens, spa bathroom, IT suite and a wide range of social opportunities.
Wulvern secured £1.4m of the project costs though grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency. It has appointed Cruden Construction to build the 6,234sq metre development, which has been designed by North West Design Architects.
The project is due for completion in May 2014.
