For some time now Martin Dace from Ardula has been in discussion with the Presneill family about Ardula acquiring the business of Presneill Tipper Contractors, and PTC (SE) Ltd is now in control of Ardula Ltd.
Both companies are major players in supplying tipper services to the construction industry in Kent and adjoining counties, and they will continue to run as they presently do out of their respective premises at Sheerness and Laddingford (between Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells). The combined fleet has diverse tipper units ranging from 6 and 8 wheelers (some with grabs) to 44 tonne artics, totalling over 30 vehicles.
Ardula Managing Director, Martin Dace, said: "I look at this acquisition as a way to expand the combined businesses and have plans to increase the size of the PTC lorry fleet. As we evolve, PTC will concentrate on longer haul work with its articulated and aluminium bodied tippers, while Ardula will carry out the muck away and local aggregates supply business. With the enlarged management and support team of both companies we will be able to achieve synergies and efficiencies to maintain a market leading position."
PTC has always been run as a family company and the new set-up will allow family values to continue whilst also letting Mike Presneill enter well-earned retirement. Pauline Presneill will stay on for a while to assist with the accounts and brothers Shaun and Asa Presneill will stay very much involved with running the business. Martin Dace will be managing director, and Asa Presneill will be operations director.
PTC has traded from Sheppey for 30 years, incorporating in 1998. Over the years Mike built up the business from being an owner driver to a well-known fleet operator. Mike Presneill has been instrumental for many years as part of lobbying groups to get fair fuel prices charged to British Hauliers. Ardula is now in its 20th year providing a quality service in south east England with customers ranging from house owners, small builders, landscapers and groundworkers, through to national contractors.
