When specialist building material supplier Builders Express, part of the SIG group, refurbished their branch in Brentford, the specialist flooring division of Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd were appointed by SIG Plc to install a new floor consisting of 140m2 of Vulkems MMA Flake System.
Due to the volume of floor traffic, the Vulkem flake system was chosen for to its high durability and abrasion resistance.
SIG Plc are the UK’s largest building products supplier to the professional trade, and therefore recognise the importance of a professional company like Cemplas installing a specialist product. The needs of our clients and the level of sector expertise remains the key driver for our business, by placing this strategy at the forefront of our business development we have established ourselves as the contractor of choice for some of the industry’s most prestigious clients, developers and construction firms.
Works undertaken by Cemplas operatives included Diamond grinding the substrate with dust control and removing the old floor joint with a diamond saw cut.
The substrate and joint was primed with Vulkem Primer H. A Matacryl joint sealer and all areas were lightly scattered with a Quartz sand to provide a key.
This was followed by applying the Vulkem membrane adding sand at a 2:1 ratio with a steel trowel at a nominal thickness of 1–2mm.
A top coat was then applied by roller and fully blinded with pre- mixed flake.
The floor was completed by the application of two full coats of Vulkem sealer.
On completion our client was delighted with the work undertaken by Cemplas, and the project was handed over prior to the store fit out.
