Proposals For New Development In Skelmersdale

Residents are being invited to give their views on proposals for a major new residential development of around 630 new homes on land at Whalleys, Skelmersdale.

A public exhibition will be held on Friday 19 July from 4pm to 8pm at the Ashurst meeting rooms. West Lancs Borough Council is holding the event to find out local people's views to ensure they can be taken into account as the development proposals are designed.

Cllr Adrian Owens, portfolio holder for regeneration and estates, said: "This is an exciting boost for Skelmersdale. The land has been earmarked for residential development for a number of years and now that economic conditions are improving the time is right to bring it forward for development. This will be a major construction project that will not only bring new homes, but also create new jobs.

"We want local people to get involved at this very early stage, so their views can be taken into account as the outline planning application is put together. We want to make sure it is designed with the local community in mind so please take the opportunity to come along and take a look."

The site consists of four parcels of land and has been allocated for residential development to help meet future housing need in the emerging West Lancashire Local Plan 2012-2027.
