The £23.3m project includes the removal of some properties in Gronant Street, many of which barely meet minimum housing standards, to be replaced by an urban park.
A further 46 properties will be remodelled to create modern family homes around the green space.

The Minister said: "It's great to see this much needed work to regenerate West Rhyl getting underway.
"The Rhyl West ward has featured as the most deprived ward in Wales for several years and so it is right that there is a concerted effort to address the problems blighting this area.
"This programme of work will improve the image of West Rhyl and will also provide an environment that the local community can be proud of."
The properties in Gronant Street viewed by the Minister and subject to the work begun today have been purchased by Denbighshire County Council with the full agreement of the owners.
