Balfour Beatty Project Wins Transport Award

The Balfour Beatty Coventry 2012 project to improve public spaces and infrastructure in Coventry city centre, in preparation for Coventry's role as an Olympic football venue during the London 2012 Olympics, beat off strong competition to pick up the "effective partnerships" accolade at the recent Chartered Institution of Highways and Transport's annual awards.

The award celebrates the achievements of effective partnership relationships towards the development and delivery of transport solutions.

The £10.7m Coventry 2012 project consisted of 30 individual schemes delivered by Balfour Beatty over the period of 15 months, including work at Broadgate and the route between Coventry Station and Bull Yard. The project was led by Coventry City Council, in partnership with Jacobs and Warwickshire County Council, and paid for by the European Regional Development Fund and Coventry City Council.
