A topping out event for a £5.9m mixed tenure housing development on the Heston Farm Estate in Hounslow, west London, marked the reaching of a key milestone in the construction programme.
Representatives from Hounslow Homes, the London Borough of Hounslow and Lovell helped celebrate the structure reaching roof level. The new four-storey development of modern, energy-efficient apartments is being built at the former Passingham House sheltered housing site in Ferraro Close.
It is the first of six new housing schemes which developer Lovell is delivering in partnership with the London Borough of Hounslow and Hounslow Homes as part of a wide-ranging regeneration programme on the Brabazon, Northfield Road and Redwood Estates and at Harlech Gardens and Norman Crescent.
Martyn Kingsford, chair of Hounslow Homes, said: "At a time when less than 80,000 homes will be completed in this country, Hounslow Council and Hounslow Homes are to be congratulated for having a major house-building programme in the Borough. Passingham House, with 41 new homes, is part of that programme. Lovell is to be praised for maintaining the programme and being on time."
The new Heston Farm development will create a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments. Set for completion in March 2014, it will provide 17 homes for open market sale by Lovell, five low-cost home ownership homes which will be available through the Lovell Choice shared equity scheme and 19 homes for affordable rent for Hounslow Homes, including two properties designed for residents who use wheelchairs.
