Minister Unveils Timber Eco-Home

First Minister, Carwyn Jones, has unveiled the first new timber eco-home from a Pembrokeshire company in a new project that will create ten new jobs.

The new Ty Solar factory built, modular home, generates its own zero-cost solar energy and is also capable of producing excess energy revenues.

The timber clad, 100 sq metre, 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom homes are produced by Western Solar Ltd will be available from £75,000.


Increased use of timber for the construction of homes represents an opportunity for new employment in Wales and the Ty Solar project is scheduled to receive £141,000 of Welsh Government funding, creating 10.5 new jobs.

First Minister Jones said: "Our investment in this project not only demonstrates our commitment to sustainable developments but also highlights our focus on job creation and employment across the country. The Ty Solar initiative will play an important part in our long term aim of ensuring a low carbon economy in Wales."
