Lovell Begins Building In Perry Common

Lovell is starting work on 60 new homes in Perry Common.

The homes are being built for Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust and also for a pioneering community association – Witton Lodge Community Association (WLCA), which is celebrating its 20th anniversary with 20 new homes for social rent.

WLCA, based in Perry Common, secured over £500,000 from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and is working in partnership with Birmingham City Council.

The new homes are being built by Lovell on vacant land between Capilano Road, Wendover Road and Dovedale Road.

These new family homes will provide much needed housing within the local area. This building work follows the near complete demolition of the estate, as the former 'Boot Houses' (made from concrete and steel frames) were structurally unsound.

David Gough, regional director of Lovell, said: "We're delighted to be providing much-needed housing for the area, both for Witton Lodge Community Association and also for BMHT. A huge amount of work has been undertaken by many different organisations to help regenerate this area, and it's great to be involved. We can't wait to get started on building these high quality, comfortable homes for the people of Perry Common."
