St Michaels Catholic College in London, wanted to transform their macadam multi-use games area into a fit for purpose, all weather, state-of-the-art synthetic pitch.
The old tarmac pitch was in desperate need of an overhaul, however, they had to consider their options carefully as the pitch was also used as their main playground so whatever their surface choice, durability was a huge factor for the school.
One of the great things about installing an artificial pitch is that it can be used not only for a number of different sports, but the surface can take a lot of use, as in this case, to double as a playground.
St Michaels needed the pitch to be able to accommodate football, tennis, netball and a general range of other sports.
Playrite’s uniquely versatile product of Matchwinner velour was used to create a multi-use games area with inlaid lines for tennis and football as well as the two-tone surround used to clearly denote the playing area. It was installed on Matchpad 2250 which gives a shock absorbing layer to the pitch as well as helping to extend the surface life by giving it a cushion layer to sit on.
Matchwinner is a high performance vertical loop multi sport needlepunch surface which caters for all sports at community level and is an excellent choice for new or refurbished projects. Inlaid lines, as in this project, can be permanently added in white, yellow or red.
The surface was installed by Soft Surfaces installation team.
