Kier Wins 'Contractor Of The Year'

Kier Construction has been awarded the title of Contractor of the Year at the 2014 North West Regional Construction Awards.

It marks the third consecutive year that Kier was awarded the accolade.

Joint head judge Roy Stewart commented: "Congratulations to Kier. It was a tightly contested category but, with their consistent address of the 'Rethinking Construction' agenda and their drive to introduce BIM (building information modelling) to all of their projects, including the smaller ones, we decided that they were, for the third consecutive time, worthy of the title."

Kier's Its Rochdale Interchange project was named Regional Project of the Year for Lancashire, with technical apprentice Natasha Swain jointly named Young Achiever of the Year.

Gary Wintersgill, MD of Kier Construction's northern operations, commented: "I am absolutely delighted to have won these three fantastic awards. The Contractor of the Year category recognises companies that exceed requirements, reduce cost, time and defects on projects and, importantly, continuously demonstrate performance improvement.

"Winning this award for the third consecutive year shows that we are constantly delivering and exceeding expectations. I'm very proud of our Rochdale Interchange team, who I know demonstrated the highest levels of technical achievement, innovation and best practice on the project, including integration with the project's stakeholders. And I'm delighted for Natasha; she has achieved exceptional accomplishments already and I'm confident she has a fantastic career ahead of her."
