One of the most common questions we are asked by our customers is how the artificial grass can be kept clean following installation by our professional team. Fake grass is a product which can last for years if the correct maintenance and care is given.
Many suppliers and installers of artificial grass often miss-sell the product as they claim it to be maintenance free. Whilst it requires considerably less hassle than traditional grass, artificial grass still requires some maintenance in order to keep it looking good.
When cleaning fake grass you should first inspect the artificial surface with your eye and locate any large debris such as branches, twigs or rubbish which may have blown in from the surrounding trees and other areas.

The next step would be to try and remove any smaller debris from the artificial surface and a great way to do this would be to either use a jet washer and then to wash the finer debris away from the surface or alternatively a leaf blower works really well too!
Ideally you would need to do this once a month to ensure that your artificial grass surface does not get stained or damage from dirt and debris. If the lawn is used more frequently then you should probably look to do this more than once per month.
If your artificial grass installation was carried out in your garden where dogs and cats are situated and they urinate onto the grass then it is a good idea to ensure the areas where they urinate are cleaned too.
When cleaning urine from artificial grass it is a great idea to use white vinegar, pour this onto the areas where they urinate and leave it to soak through for a few minutes. After the white vinegar has soaked through then use water to carefully rinse it away from the surface and this will prevent any staining.
Sometimes we recommend that to make the above monthly maintenance of your artificial grass a bit easier you should give the lawn a very quick clean using a garden hose, plain water and just spray the surface weekly to keep it looking great!
