The proposals were drawn up following an eight month consultation with residents, community stakeholders, councillors and the wider community.

Huw Griffiths, Development Director at Mace, said: "We are pleased to submit an application for the redevelopment of the West Way area, excluding Elms Parade, Field House and the vicarage of St Peter and St Paul Church."

"In addition we can today confirm that we have agreed terms for Co-Op to come back into the redeveloped West Way. Co-Op have traded in Botley for over twenty years and, if our application is consented, will trade from a slightly larger and more modern store than their current facility, anchoring the the new West Way."

"As our application progresses we look forward to working with Councillors to refine our plans and to moving closer to delivering a redevelopment, shaped by community consultation, which meets Botley's needs."
