Ardmore has secured a £80 million contract to develop the first phase of a mixed-used project in London.
The contractor will deliver stage one of Project Light at Canada Water in Southwark.
The scheme, for Notting Hill Housing and Sellar Developments, involves building 1,030 new homes with a range of commercial and community uses across a seven acre site.
Around 150,000 sq ft of retail/commercial space will be developed, including a cinema, bars, restaurants, office space and a 100,000sqft Decathlon store.
In addition, a community sports facility and health centre will be built alongside new public areas featuring open spaces, landscaped gardens, walkways and cycle paths with a new waterside town square.
Phase one of the project includes 234 apartments rising up 18-storey's along with the Decathlon store and basement car park.
The store will occupy the lower levels of the building with an outdoor multi-use-games-area situated on the podium level.
Four residential areas will be located at higher levels surrounding a landscaped courtyard.
As main contractor for the first phase, Ardmore will build the Decathlon store to shell and core using a post-tensioned structural solution to provide the units expansive spans.
Tower cranes will then be mounted on the roof allowing the store to trade while Ardmore completes the building above it.
Chris Langdon, Ardmore Development Director, said: “We are thrilled to have been selected for the first phase of Project Light, which promises to be a landmark development for Canada Water.
"I am delighted to build on our excellent relationship with Notting Hill Housing, and I am looking forward to working with Sellar Developments to help transform another part of London."
