Weston Homes is due to begin building a £120 million residential development in Buckinghamshire.
The developer will transform the historic Denham Film Laboratories into an "Art Deco and movie inspired residential address".
The famous site has been previously involved with a number of famous films, including Star Wars, ET and James Bond movies.
Work at the 11.94 acre 'Denham Film Studios' site includes building 224 new homes, with 154 one, two and three bedroom apartments and 70 four and five bedroom family townhouses.
Features include a retained and restored cinema with bar and a community hall/fitness space, with the properties designed around garden squares, landscaped grounds, rill waterfeatures, private gardens and protected woodland complete with parking and garaging.
The main Grade II listed building will also be converted into 49 apartments, featuring two new green squares and communal gardens.
In addition, three new four-storey apartment buildings will be built containing 105 new homes.
Avenues of three and four-storey terraced housing will be built around the sites eastern side, while in the northern section the developer will build two and three storey detached townhouses; all overlooking communal landscaping and private gardens.
The retained cinema will also be refurbished and turned into a cinema theatre and club for residents.
Bob Weston, CEO of Weston Homes, said: "For almost 80 years the Denham Film Studios played a central role in the history of Hollywood and British movie making. With its iconic Art Deco centerpiece, the retained and restored cinema once used by Hollywood directors and its illustrious history this is without doubt the most exciting, glamorous and unique restoration projects Weston Homes has undertaken to date.
"Our vision at the Denham Film Studios is to create an Art Deco and movie inspired residential address within easy commuting distance of London via rail or road."
The development is due to be launched in spring 2017.
