Watson & Hillhouse Invests In New Piling Equipment

Construction News Image
After a very successful 2015, Watson & Hillhouse has recently made major investments in new piling equipment to complement its existing hire fleet.

The fleet of large vibro hammers has been joined by a PVE 82M vibratory hammer which weighs approx. 11 tonnes, but has 2570 kN of centrifugal force giving it a high power to weight ratio. It's ideal for port and harbour projects - installing and extracting large diameter tube piles, H beams and sheet piles.

In the mid-sized vibro hammer range, Watson & Hillhouse have added a PVE20M high frequency vibratory hammer - ideal for installing and extracting: sheet piles, bearing piles, timber piles, tubular piles and temporary casings for rotary bored piles.

In addition, the company has increased its mid-sized hydraulic hammer range with another BSP SL30da double acting drop hammer and a BSP CX 5-7-9 - a new hammer from BSP that can be configured with 5 tonne, 7 tonne or 9 tonne drop weights. Both will install sheet piles and bearing piles.

The excavator mounted vibrator fleet also has three new additions: two OVR S-40's which are ideal for smaller piling projects; and an ICE 823SH swivel head vibratory hammer which allows the pile to be picked up in the horizontal and rotated to the vertical in one move. The company now also have 2m boom extensions available to hire, which allow longer piles to be driven.

Completing the shopping list are three new Kowan Still Worker noise and vibration free pile pressing machines. One WP-150, which is arriving this month, and two ZU-100s - one of which has arrived, the other which is due in August.
