Keepmoat has began work on a £20 million housing development in Hull.
The contractor will build 229 new homes on Hawthorn Avenue East as part of a £150m housing and regeneration scheme.
The 12-year programme will see Keepmoat build over 1,400 homes in the Newington and St. Andrew's area of West Hull.
A sod-cutting ceremony took place on 18 July to mark the start of the projects first phase, which will see 90 new homes built.
The scheme is being delivered in partnership with the city council, Places for People Homes, Pickering and Ferens Homes and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
Keepmoat Regional Managing Director, Mark Knight said: "The success of our work so far in Hull has been a direct result of the ongoing commitment from our partners. We have all worked together to invest in the economic growth within the city, while completely transforming priority neighbourhoods. It was fantastic to have all representatives together to celebrate another key milestone within this project."
Housing Minister Brandon Lewis added: "I am pleased these much needed new homes will be built in Hull. This is another example of how government funding is able to support cities like Hull to create successful places for people to work and live. This investment helps to meet local priorities for housing and growth, supports a range of construction and professional companies working on the scheme, and gives greater choice to people who dream of owning their own home."
