North Midland Continues Work On £2.7m Culvert Improvement Project

Construction News Image
North Midland Construction is continuing work on a £2.7 million culvert improvement project in Warwickshire.

The contractor is working with the Environment Agency, Warwickshire County Council and Stratford-upon-Avon District Council to reduce the risk of flooding from the culvert which carries the Bell Brook through Snitterfield.

A major section of the project has now been completed, meaning both Smith's Lane and Bell Lane have been reopened to traffic.

Overall, the scheme will see major improvements including laying a new bypass culvert, stabilising the existing culvert along The Green, and replacing the culvert under Smith's Lane.

Work is scheduled to continue over the next few months, with completion scheduled by April 2017.

Michael Green, Warwickshire County Council Flood Risk Manager, said: "Warwickshire County Council is pleased to be delivering this project in partnership with the Environment Agency. We thank Snitterfield residents for their understanding during this disruptive stage of the Bell Brook, Snitterfield Bypass culvert scheme."

Emma Roberts, Environment Agency Operations Manager, added: "These improvements will dramatically improve safety for residents living near to the culvert and it's great that we have been able to work together in partnership with Warwickshire County Council to deliver this."
