Kier has been selected to carry out pre-construction works on a new multi-million pound leisure centre project in Chelmsford.
The contractor will work alongside the design team, focusing on ensuring value for money procurement and sequencing the works, as well as making sure the project will be delivered on time and within its budget.
The new leisure complex will be developed on the site of the existing Riverside Ice & Leisure Centre, with construction scheduled to start in July 2017.
Plans involve building a new community building containing a larger, modern 25m x 10 lane swimming pool, along with two further teaching and fun pools and a flume. Other features include a 120-station gym, health and fitness studios, crèche and soft play, changing rooms and reception area.
A planning application has now been submitted and will be considered by the council's Planning Committee in March, Completion is scheduled of the end of 2018.
